FAQ's

***Registration***

Q. Why do I have to register before using Doctor’s Companion? Answer: Doctor’s Companion is available to download for all Australian medical practitioners for free. There are no costs to register and no ongoing fees. To provide this application to you free it contains some information and messages useful for medical practitioners that have been paid for by healthcare industry sponsors. In order to include this it is a requirement of regulations governing the Australian healthcare industry that we validate whether a user is a registered medical practitioner in Australia. We endeavour to complete the validation process and provide users with their activation code within one working day. If you have not received your activation code in this time please let us know via email on info@doctorscompanion.com.au

Q. I’m not a medical practitioner but I work in the healthcare industry. Can I download Doctor’s Companion and register? Answer: Yes, you can still download Doctor’s Companion and register to receive your activation code. As advertised, Doctor’s Companion is intended for medical practitioners registered in Australia. If a user is not a registered medical practitioner, you will still be able to use the application, but the information and messages for the intended medical practitioner audience won’t appear on your phone. In addition, some other features you see advertised on the App Store for the application will not be displayed on your phone. However, we hope you enjoy all the other remaining features of Doctor’s Companion, brought to you for free. In the future we will expand the features for non-medical practitioners.

Q. I’ve entered my activation code but the application doesn’t start. Answer: On your phone go to Settings, find Companion, and please double-check your activation code. Your code is case sensitive, so please use capital letters where needed. You may be asked to use a combination of numbers, letters, characters, so please check you have the correct one (for example the letter “O” instead of the number “0” and a dash is “ – “ not an underline “_ “). Once you have entered your activation code, leave Settings and open the Doctor’s Companion application again. Re-opening the application can take a few moments while the application reads your activation code for the first time. Depending on the strength of your connection, it may automatically close and you will need to re-open the application a second time for your activation code to take effect.

Q. Since I updated to the OS4 software the application doesn't always start. Answer: We are aware that the new software has caused the application to not always start properly. While we are developing a fix we have found that powering down the iPhone and restarting it usually fixes the problem. To power down the iPhone hold the ON button down and you will get the option to power down. Once the iPhone has switched off, restart it by holding the ON button down again and the Apple logo will appear on the screen to show it is rebooting.

Q. I’ve registered but haven’t received my activation code. Answer: You should receive your activation code via email to the address you supplied in your registration within one working day. There are several reasons why you may not receive your activation email:

  • Your email may be sitting in your junk email box. Please check your email inbox and your junk email box to see if you have received your activation email. Look for an email sent from info@doctorscompanion.com.au.
  • Your email server may have had a temporary problem caused by too much traffic or your mailbox may have exceeded its size limit.
  • The email address you supplied in your registration contains an error and is not a valid email address. Please check that your email address is correct and current. When we receive a failed delivery receipt message from your server, as far as possible we will try to do our best to notify you. Your email address may be an old email address that is no longer active. It may be misspelled or fail to have all the correct characters. As far as possible we will try to guess what the error may be and notify you with what we think is the correct email address (for example, johnsmith@otusnet.com is probably johnsmith@optusnet.com or johnsmith@bipond.com is probably johnsmith@bigpond.com). To protect your privacy we cannot change the details of your registration. If you realise your email has an error you can either sign-in and correct your email address yourself, or re-register with your correct email address.
  • The details you supplied in your registration are incomplete, are not sufficient to allow identification of a medical practitioner to comply with regulations governing the healthcare industry, or are completely fabricated and bear no resemblance to a living person. We will not allow fraudulent registrations to activate Doctor’s Companion. ADC Technology Pty Limited reserves the right to decide whether to activate any registration.

If you are still unable to activate your application, or for any other reason you have not received your activation code within one working day, please email us on info@doctorscompanion.com.au and we will investigate the cause of the problem and reply within one working day with a solution.
